T have just finished listening

to the news. The topic of the morning has been the French truck drivers' strike again. These people have a lot of clout, it seems.

But as Mike Beer says, it costs £300 per vehicle to operate abroad, so it's time we put our foot down.

Let's say if we can't get over there, you can't come over here. And let's add that if we lose money by not being able to cross the water we will charge compensation for damage and loss before French operators are allowed back into this country.

We shouldn't accept demands from the French government that compensation will only be paid if our letters are in French and our invoices are in Francs.

The French caused the problems, so they should sort it out at their own inconvenience—not ours.

Peter C Clark,

Durham.
