Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Gibb Grace • Fuchs Lubricants (UK) has introduced a range of synthetic engine and transmission oils under the Titan brand name, which the company claims will cut fuel consumption by up to 8%.

Based on UK field trials, Fuchs managing director Dr Michael Kost says operators using the new oils in engine, transmission and rear axle could expect fuel savings in excess of 22,000 for 38-tonners covering over 100,000 miles. Titan Cargo MC is a 10W-40 oil which is approved to ACEA E3-96 and suitable for 100,000km drain intervals; Titan Unic Plus MC, also a 10W-40, is approved to ACEA A3-96, B3-96 and E3-96, making it suitable for mixed fleets running anything from light petrol vans to 17-tonners. Complementing these engine oils are two synthetic transmission oils: Titan 5 Speed SL, an ultra-high performance SAE 80-90 designed for use in manual transmissions; and Titan Supergear 8090MC, an SAE 75W-90 grade transmission and axle oil.

Kost says: "We have had a very encouraging reception across the board, from bus operators to local authorities to high-mileage transport fleets."
