Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Grangemouth-based John Mitchell has equipped its latest batch of MAN tractors with VBG fifth wheels.

Eleven MAN 22.403 6x2s have been fitted with 65SF sliders; three MAN 18.403 4x2s have VBG's 6551:12 fixed couplings. The Iwo-axle tractors are coupled to tri-axle skeletal trailers carrying containers; the coupling weighs in at 116k9.

VBG's slider is some 50kg lighter than the couplings previously used by the Mitchell

Fleet. It allows

525rnm of longitudinal travel: enough to accommo date most kingpin positions on general-haulage applications.
