Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The British Road Federation is urging the government to make Britain's roads greener.

Using measures such as lownoise road surfaces, noise abatement barriers and traffic calming, the BRF believes its goals can be reached.

Richard Diment, director and chief executive of the BRF says: "Highway authorities should be given a limited budget to transform our roads. Currently many authorities say that with little funding for maintenance, no environmental improvements can be made."

The report, Old Roads to Green Roads, also suggests that A roads which bisect villages should be realigned to help improve the environment around villages.

One example of this contained within the report involves the A4010, West Wycombe to Prince's Risborough road. The report advocates a realignment of the road at Bradenham junction, moving it away from the village and replacing the existing road with a path.
