Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I have been employed as an engineer in the transport Industry for most of my working life, both in passenger transport and road haulage. I have recently moved into education, teaching automotive subjects.

Because of the effect that fuel price increases have had on my vehicle running costs, I took part in the protest on 12 April, being the only private car (diesel engine) to join the convoy from Farthing Corner Services. I wish other private motorists would join and add support to the cause. I don't think they know just how much the Government takes in tax from each litre of fuel.

However, the irony of Trans-Action is that it is fighting to save British hauliers from Continental competition, and uses the Union Flag as its emblem.

If only they had thought of the fate of the manufacturers when they killed the British truck industry—there were only two British trucks (ERFs) starting from Kent. Some people may make the connection and ask why they should be helped when they did nothing to help the British manufacturers.

MJ Pearson AMIRTE, Tenterden, Kent.
