John Prescott's performance at the FTA dinner owed more to a Nuremburg Rally than the quaint charm of the Hilton Hotel.
His performance again proved, if proof were needed, that his grasp on the realities of the problems facing the road haulage industry is even more tenuous than we had thought.
Prescott prides himself on his pugnacious, street fighting image but, as a fellow, bluntspeaking Yorkshireman, I found his performance embarrassing and unprofessional, and his late arrival and incorrect attire disrespectful to his audience who, initially at least, gave him a reasonable reception.
