Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Hay Po)ock, the freight forwarding and logistics subsidary of Nlghtfreight, has bought Bowler International Freight for 550,000.

The two have combined to form a new firm, Nightfreight International Logistics, which runs 24 trucks from a base in Basildon and from smaller depots in Bradford, Manchester and West Bromwich.

Managing director Brian Orton says: "This development is a logical step in our strategy to enhance our European services. Since joining TEAM [a strategic alliance of European forwarders] we have been seeking to strengthen our UK position. Bowler's main markets of Spain, Italy and France fit hand in glove with Hay Pollock's traditionally strong German, Austrian, Benelux and Swiss services." Last year Bowler made a profit of 128,000 on a turnover of 6.-rm.

There were no redundancies as a result of the acquisition.

• Pall-Ex UK, the Midlandsbased pallet network, has bought Focus Express parcels, a network of 55 independent companies that was formed in November 1998.
