• Sales of new trucks and artics are at the same level as last year, according to figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
In April 4,313 new trucks were registered; just 100 down on the figures for April 1998. However, new truck sales for the year so date are 16,777, compared with 16,743 at the same point in 1998.
Leyland Daf heads the league so far, registering 3,200 new vehicles. lveco Ford is in second place with 2,720 sales.
