Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

a t a anter DEMONSTRATION models of Mitsubishi's Canter lorry will be available in the United Kingdom in August. But pro duction models — to be launched on the market in 1978 — will be fitted with larger cabs.

The Canter, gross weight 5.5 tonnes (5.4 tons), will be followed by a succession of other commercial vehicles over a five-year period.

The Japanese company is at present appointing a nationwide service network.

The next models for the UK will consist of the FK and FMs covering gross weights from 7.5 tonnes (7,38 tons) to 9.15 tonnes (9 tons) with either a 5.4-litre (330cuin) engine producing 98kW (131bhp) at 3,100rpm with a torque of 340Nm (250Ibft) at 2,000rpm or a 6-5-litre (397cuin) engine rated at 117kW (I56bhp) at 3,000rpm having a torque of 427Nm (3151bft).

The next range up starts at 14.38 tonnes (14.1 tons) and goes up to a plated weight of 39 tonnes (38.4 tons), the biggest of which is powered by a 14.8-litre (903cuin) engine producing 222kW (298bhp) with a torque rating of 1,010 Nm (745Ibft) at 1,200rpm.

Finally, the FU and FV models make up the heavyduty section with 6-4 and 6-2 rigid chassis options up to 27.6 tonnes (27.1 tons) with sixspeed transmissions encorporating a sixth gear overdrive and tractive units plated at 44 to 51 tonnes (43.3 tons to 50.1 tons) with 10-speed boxe: encorporating a high and by splitter.

Type approval has not ye been gained, but Mitsubish foresees little obstruction fron this quarter to the introduc tion of its new range.
