Mersey Docks and Harbou Company considers the roa haulage surcharge "quit unnecessary" and appealed t hauliers to "speedily remov it."

A spokesman said that whil there had been problems ow equipment breakdowns at th terminal these were rapidl being overcome. Some repa work had been held up owin to delay in obtaining spar parts from manufacturer The necessary spares wer now being delivered and fitte when the surcharge wa announced.

The spokesman said it wo anticipated that last weeken there would be a big improvt ment in the availability of th plant and equipment.
