Transaid was founded by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, but is kept alive by the work of road transport companies and professionals. Significant numbers of transport employees volunteer their time and expertise supported by their employers. Interestingly, at the moment, Transaid's transport volunteers are predominantly young women.
Some of the companies that make it possible are: TNT, Exel, Tibbett and Britten, P&O, Wincanton, Salvesen, Bibby, Hoyer, Royal Mail, White Arrow, NYK, Reality, CEVA — manufacturers: IVECO, MAN, DAF, Jaguar, Land Rover, Michelin, Bandvulc, Bridgestone and Hankook, and retailers Sainsbury's, M&S and Safeway.
