Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BANKERS should forge more links with the haulage industry. Master of the Worshipful Company of Carmen John Wells said in London this week.

Mr Wells, who is secretary of the CM Lorry Driver of the Year competition, told the City of Lon don livery company: "It is not sufficient for the bankers to think that £50m lent to the National freight consortium discharges their responsibility.

"To prevent further deterioration, the merchants making common cause with the haulier against the politician and the bureaucrat require the support of bankers, insurers, investors, and all who hold the purse strings to ensure success," he added.

Mr Wells commented that own-account and hire-or-reward hauliers are united in their determination to fight the "gradual rigor mortis" being imposed on the industry by politicians and civil servants.
