Maserati Air Horns THREE models from the range of air horns marketed by

Maserati. the Italian car makers, are available in the U.K. from Harry Moss (London) Ltd. The horns are supplied in kits which include a separate air compressor, plastics tubing and relay switch as well as the actual horns.

The Normal and Sprint are two-trumpet models, the difference between the two being the size of the trumpet8-125 in. and 6.25 in. on the Normal and both 65 in. on the Sprint—and the type of note produced. The Normal produces a blended, though piercing note; the Sprint produces a double, highly discordant note. A triple trumpet horn is the Three Sound unit which produces three alternating notes which can also be sounded at once by means of a special cable connecting the compressor to the dashboard. The Normal, Sprint and Three Sound have plastics trumpets and whilst the first two are available in 6 and 12 volt forms the last is available only as 12 volt.

Like most air horns of Continental manufacture, the Maserati models are an improvement on types fitted as original equipment, in the volume of sound produced and in the effectiveness of that sound as a warning. The three-sound model will be particularly useful for such vehicles as ambulances and fire engines and all three models are suitable for goods and passenger vehicles and will be useful on motorway running where more piercing warning than that provided by many other types of horns is required.

Concessionnaires: Harry Moss (London) Ltd., 61/2 Crutched Friars, London, E.C.3. Price: Normal and Sprint, £6 19s. 6d.: Three Sound, £18 19s. 6d.

Restricting Welding Heat /".1 A PASTE-LIKE foam produced by mixing two compounds

which are marketed by Marron Machines Ltd. as Marronite Heat Shield Foam, prevents the heat from welding processes from spreading. The foam is laid round the area to be welded and no matter how much heat is generated by welding, the metal under and past the foam is said to stay cold.

Amongst the applications for Marronite is overcoming the problems of distortion when welding close to windscreens and the like, and preventing damage and discoloration to chrome when plated components are welded.

Makers: Marron Machines Ltd., 37 Queensbury Station Parade, Edgware, Middx.

Price: Kit consisting of sufficient compounds for about 30 applications, £2 9s. 6d.

This will be particularly useful on tipping semi-trailers and the unit is powered by a four-stroke petrol engine driving a gear-type oil pump giving an output of 1-25 gal. per minute at a normal operating pressure of 1,500 An intermittent pressure of up to 1,750 p.s.i. is possible. The pack also contains an 8-gal, oil tank and overall dimensions are 2 ft. by I ft: 8 in, by 1 ft. 11 in. high.
