WORKERS' concessionary fares will be YV abolished on municipal buses at Great Yarmouth if the Eastern Traffic Commissioners agree to plans approved by the town council. The aim is to offset an estimated deficit of £18,000 next year by raising an extra £20,000 through fare revisions.
Aid. S. H. da Volts, chairman of the transport committee, told the council last week that abolition of workers' fares would save the department £3,300. Stages would be standardized and some fares altered, but the 2d. minimum would be retained.
When some councillors protested about higher fares he replied that as the public were using the buses less Caey would have to pay more if they wanted to keep their own undertaking.
BUS STRIKES DEPLORED
BOTH sides in the Belfast bus dispute Li —crews struck on two successive Saturdays—have accepted the findings of the Arbitration Tribunal. The corporation and the bus crews' leaders 'have agreed to discuss the causes of the trouble, including schedules, the lay-over time of vehicles and the duties of an outside operational superintendent.
The Tribunal said they deplored the stoppages and hoped that in future such things would not happen.
