Should the Devon and Cornwall Con ciliation Board be continued? This question was keenly discussed at the annual general meeting of the Mid. Cornwall Sub-area of A.R.O., at St.

Austell, last week. Mr. W. R. G. Hawke, of St. Austell, presided.

Mr. Humphrey Cooke, area secretary, reminded members that without the Board their district would be governed by wages and conditions obtaining in Bristol. Was it not worth spending a little money to control their own wages and conditions? Mr. C. Hodgson, area chairman, supported Mr. Cooke.

A resolution was passed supporting the area committee.

Messrs. C. Itodge,on, W. R. G. Hawke, J. H. Wilson, C. Selleck, N. E. May, D. Rowett, C. Storey, J, T. Johns, W. J. -Williams, J. H. Bill (all of St. Austell), It, 5, Elliott (VerYaa), R. W. Kemble IMevagisseY). and G. J. Smith (Bodmin), were re-elected to the sub-area sectional board, Mr. Broad (St. Austell) and Mr. Wills (Wadebridge), being added to their number. Messrs. Hawke, Hodgson and Williams were elected representatives on the area hauliers' sectional board. Mr. Hawke was reannointed chairman of the sub-area and Mr. Humphrey Cooke, secretary. Messrs. &Reck and Wilson were again chosen as delegates to the Comillalion Board.
