T"Equestion of the age limit for free travel for children on buses was again raised before the East Midland Traffic Commissioners, last week. Mr. Campbell-Taylor, of the Trent Motor Traction Co., Ltd., said that the railway company had entered an objection to his company's applications.

An appeal on the question had been made to the Minister of Transport. During the hearing—which had specific relation to excursions—the stage and express services were also alluded to, and the whole matter became 'somewhat complicated. At the moment, it was not clear whether the Minister's decision would apply only to excursions.

The chairman (Mr. J. H. Stirk) said he hoped that it would apply to all, adding that they did not want this case raised again.

Mr. Taylor said that if the Minister's decision included stage and express services, his company was prepared to abide by it, but if it applied only to excursions, he would ask that the question of stage and express services be the subject of some future hearing. Mr. Stirk pointed out that, in another case, the Minister had decided on a stage-carriage application that the age should be five years. It might be reasonable to suppose he would apply that decision to all stage services.
