Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A MAJOR reorganization of services in Bristol is to be undertaken by the Bristol Omnibus Co.; Ltd., in September. It will involve the re-casting of 1300 duties, alterations in the disposition of vehicles at the company's eight garages in the city, and the transfer of many employees.

The present pattern of routes is almost the same as in the days of trams, but the network is to be replaced by a system of cross-linked routes, with an average length of 15 miles, on which maximum fares will be Is. 5d. Buses will not wait in busy streets, so that congestion wil4 be eased.

Every suburb will be conveniently connected with the new and extensive Broadmead shopping centre. It is hoped that crowds at the present terminals will be thinned, because people will be able to catch and alight from buses nearer their various destinations, and will need to change less often.

Only a few services will remain unaltered. The whole operation is being studied by experts, including many from the Continent, among them Mr. Hortenius, general manager of the Netherlands State transport organization. Introduction of the scheme will be linked with the opening of a new station in Whitson Street for country buses, at which 100 vehicles may be garaged.

This is due to•open on August 18 and will deal with 5,500 vehicle departures a26 and 214,000 passengers every week. At present, country buses use terminals at the city centre, Old Market and Prince Street, but these will be cleared of stationary vehicles when the new station. opens.

Many country buses will be re-routed within the city boundary, and new pick

-ing-up points will be specified. The new station will not at first offer such facilities as waiting rooms and a café to the public, as there have been difficulties concerning planning. The site cannot be completely cleared because of the existence there of a Georgian house.
