Mr. J. W. Wh:mpenny has been appointed managing director of the engine components division—overseas, of Associated Engineering, Ltd.
Mr. M. C. English is the new secretary of the Institute of Public Cleansing. The retiring secretary, Mr. H. Key, is joining the Institute of Housing as secretarydesignate.
Mr. D. J. Tuff, chief engineer of the Yorkshire Woollen District Transport Co.,— Ltd., since 1936, has retired because of ill health. He is succeeded by Mr. H. Chappell, assistant engineer.
Mr. W. G. Allen, chairman of Atkinson Lorries (Holdings), Ltd,, has been re-elected chairman of the British Transport Vehicle Manufacturers Association for the third successive year.
Mr. a E. Dodson has been appointed assistant divisional manager in the National Benzoic Co.'s southern division, which has its headquarters at Guildford. Mr. Dodson is succeeded as district manager at Bolton by Mr. R. P. Brewin.
Mr. .1. C. Wake, at present general manager of Bradford City Passenger Transport Department, has been appointed general manager of the Nottingham City Transport Department in succession to Mr. B. England, subject to the approval of the City Council. Mr. England retires in December. Mr. K. A. Smith has been appointed director of sales of the Richardson group of companies, whose headquarters are at Oldbury, nr. Birmingham.
Four hire-purchase companies of the Bowmaker Group—Bowmaker (Commercial), Ltd., Midland Counties Motor Finance Co., Ltd., Yeoman Credit, Ltd., and Berkeley Finance Co., Ltd.—are now integrated and operate under the style of Bowmaker (Commercial), Ltd. As a consequence several new branch appointments are announced. Mr. N. H. Hutton, formerly divisional manager. North, Yeoman Credit, is appointed area manager at Newcastle upon Tyne. Mr. E. F. T.31.1,11Send, formerly area manager, Berkeley Finance, is appointed area manager at Doncaster. Mr. N. S. Steen, hitherto manager at Edinburgh branch, is appointed manager at Aberdeen in succession to Mr. D. Jenkins who is promoted to general manager's assistant, Scottish Region. Both these appointments are effective from July 16. Mr. G. P. Paterson, hitherto sub-manager, Middlesbrough branch, has been appointed manager at Edinburgh branch. Mr. I. Hughes, formerly manager Midland Counties Norwich branch, has been appointed manager at Middlesbrough. Full branch status is granted to Grimsby office and Mr. R. G. Morley is promoted from sub-manager to manager there. Mr. M. F. J. Thompson, formerly resident representative, has been promoted to submanager at Whitehaven.
