DATIONALIZATION of the French AN. motor industry, and passible methods of co-operation between motor manufacturers in this country and in France, were discussed at the headquarters of Morris Industries Exports, Ltd.,. at Oxford, when a French Putchasing Commission visited the factoiy a few days ago. The delegation consisted of representatives of the French Ministry of Production and the French Society of Motor Manufacturers.
The motor industry in France is now working on a five-year plan. All leading manufacturers there are experiencing shortages of machine tools, steel and fuel, and the purpose of the plan is to secure the pooling of resources, so that manufacturers would not be in competition. with each other, but would each specialize in the production of an individual type of vehicle, or Components.
In this connection, the specialized technique which has long been in vogue within the Nuffield Organization, was a matter of considerable interest "and encouragement to the Frenchmen, who visited further factories within the Nuffield Group to See exactly how this manufacturing technique operates.
