THE CZECH DAE WOO Avia organisation has been re-structured. New owners have acquired a majority holding in the Prague-based truck manufacturer,while a new company will import the products td the UK.
Avia Trucks UK, owned directly by the factory and based in Manchester, will take over from Daewod Truck, the independent importer which wen into voluntary liquidation at the beginning o December. Former operations manager Brill] Rothwell is the new general manager, with Job Armitage as commercial manager.
Most of the dealer network is expected n remain, and they and major customers an said to see the new factory backing as a posi tive step.At least one major new fleet deal is ii the pipeline.
The new regime brings the promise of al enhanced product range, starting with a neN engine option on D75 and D90 models. Th current 150hp Cummins engine is now corn plemented by the 1SBe 170-30, producing 170h1 at 2,500rpm and 600Nm from 1,2004,700rpir Standard transmission is the five-speed ZF with the option of a 6S-850 six-speeder.
