by Mike Jewell • Two of the former management team at Eddie Stobart's Woolfox, Leicestershire depot last week admitted offences involving the falsification of tachograph records by the company's drivers.

Trevor Pullen, of Valley Road, Grantham, a traffic planner at the depot, pleaded guilty to five offences of aiding and abetting drivers to falsify tachograph records.

John Davies, of Charles Avenue„Ancester, Grantham, also a traffic planner, pleaded guilty to one charge of falsifying a chart and two charges of aiding and abetting drivers to falsify charts.

The men appeared at Chester Crown Court where sentence was adjourned for four weeks.

A third member of the management team, Reginald Motley, of Beaver Gardens, Great Gonerby, Lincolnshire, who was said by the prosecution to be the Woolfax depot manager, pleaded not guilty to three charges of aiding and abetting drivers to falsify charts. His trial, which is likely to last up to three weeks, was adjourned until a date is fixed.

CI In a separate case at Warrington magistrates Court Stobart driver Frank Hardy was fined last week for falsifying tachograph charts for the second time within seven months.

In June, Hardy of Farndon Road, Newark, was one of 28 Stobart drivers fined a total of £10,720 by Crewe magistrates after they admitted a series of specimen charges relating to the falsification of tachograph records.

Last Wednesday Hardy pleaded guilty to one offence of falsifying a tachograph chart and one offence of taking insufficient daily rest.

The court was told that the offences came to light after Hardy's vehicle was stopped by Cheshire Police. He was fined £300 for the false tachograph offence and .£100 for the daily rest offence and was ordered to pay £40 prosecution costs.
