I have heard that from March 1994 a person will not be able to take a C+E driving test on an artic unless he has first passed a class C test on a rigid truck.
Is that right ?
No. The situation described will happen but not in March 1994.
One of the provisions of the Second EC Directive on driving licenceswhich takes effect on July 1, 1996— is that a licence for category C+E should be issued only to drivers already entitled to drive vehicles in category C.
By July 1, 1994 the UK has to make the legislation necessary to implement the Directive but the change will not take effect until July 1, 1996.
