Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IN connection with its policy and rulings for 1933, in relation to exhibitions, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders points out that, so far as agricultural shows are concerned, the policy operated in 1931 and 1932 will be continued, but with an increase in the load capacity of the types of vehicle sanctioned. The result is that complete goods vehicles and utility vehicles for agricultural purposes, which have a rated load capacity of not more than 2i tons (this limit is waived in the case of cattle trucks and horseboxes constructed to meet the requirements of the Transport of Animals Order), may be exhibited at bona fide agricultural shows, provided the exhibits are made by a distributor or dealer and not by the bondsigner direct, and that the shows to be supported and the classes of vehicle to be exhibited are notified to the Society by the bondsigner not later than one month previous to the opening of each event. The same principle applies to B20

goods-transport and utility trailers.

To provide exhibition facilities for classes of internal-combustion-engined commercial vehicle excepted from the above, certain agricultural shows are approved by the Society,, in these cases for direct display by the boudsigner. These are as follow:—

Royal Dublin Spring Show, Dublin (May 3-6). Royal Ulster Agricultural Show, Belfast May 24-27l.

Royal Highland Agricultural Show, Dundee (June 20-231. Munster Agricultural Show, Cork (June 28-29). Royal Agricultural Show, Derby (July 4-8). Royal Welsh Agricultural Show, Aberystwyth (July 26-28).

The approval applies only to v.ehieles complete with bodies.

Steam vehicles may be shown at any six agricultural shows selected by the vehicle manufacturer, with the proviso that notice must be given to the Society at least one month prior to the opening of each event. For this purpose, the Smithfield Show, held at ithe Royal Agricultural Hall, London, from December 4-8, is regarded as an agricultural event. The same ruling applies in the case of trailer caravans.

The Used Motor Show, which takes place at the Royal Agricultural Hall, London, from May 13-25, is approved in respect of exhibits of used motor vehicles and trailers, but the former must have been registered, licensed and used on the road for a minimum period of six months, and the latter must have been in use on the road prior to November 13, 1932.

The annual demonstration of the Institute of Public Cleansing, to be held in Edinburgh on June 7, is approved for the participation only of gully and cesspool emptiers, street-washing machines, road sweepers and refuse collectors. The Society is prepared, however, to give special consideration to applications for approval of collective demonstrations organized by similar bodies, in which specialized types of vehicle for local-government service can participate.
