Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The growing anxiety of the farming community becomes more and more evident week by week. Recourse to mechanical aids is admitted to be a necessity. We did not omit to trace the shaping of rins demand during the year 1915, as our " Royal Show " report issue of the 1st July last testifies, and as a succession of later references and reports tqually shows. Arrangements to undertake hereu I ter the construction of agrimotors of various types, and most of all of lighter models, are immediately Gccupying the attention of several British makers of commercial motors who have not hitherto been able to take this branch of production into active consideration. We have already pointed out the wisdom of being ready with at least one alternative class of output, against the day when everybody will be temporarily prostrated in the arena of competiion, following the conclusion of the war. The industry will have to face the contemporary return of makers to concentration upon orders to fill civilian requirements, in conjunction with some influx of Nv a r e d chassis and of surplus American machines.

The latest instance of a readiness on the part of I he agricultural community, to move in the direction motor equipment, comes from the West of England. We report on another page in this issue the proceedings of a number of farmers in the county of Hereford, and we regard this further " pointer " one of much significance.
