Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

It is interesting that the Road Haulage and Freight Transport Associations have not joined forces with their Irish, Dutch and Belgian counterparts to seek compensation from the French.

It is typical of the attitude that pervades in this country that such a decision has been taken. Surely if everyone gets together to lobby the French government, they will be more effective.

I can only conclude that the RHA and FTA have greater faith in the Department of

Transport than the rest of us. You have to ask whether such an attitude is borne out of British arrogance, that suggests we are somehow superior to our neighbours in Europe.

Last time the French promised compensation, it failed to materialise. If this happens again, and it is the result of the hauliers failing to show a united front, then the RHA and FTA will have no one to blame but themselves.
