Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ESSO CHEMICAL Ltd has just completed a Ulm investment in a new computerised engine laboratory for the evaluation of engine lubricant additives at its Abingdon technical centre.

The project was initiated by the Paramins division of Esso Chemical, which markets a range of additives for petroleum products and develops engine lubricants for many of the major oil companies.

The computer installation is claimed to give more precise control and accurate continuous monitoring during test programmes carried out on eight standard test engines. This in turn will promote more efficient and economic evaluations of additive components and lubricant formulations.

Performance data over a range of critical areas such as rust control, oxidation and engine wear at low and high temperatures is essential for the development of high-quality engine oil additives, claims Esso.
