Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Abbey Logistics is launching its own training division in 2013 Words: Laura Hailstone ABBEY LOGISTICS is launching a driver training division in January, with a focus on greener driving to make drivers "desirable employees".

Steve Granite, MD of Abbey Logistics, told CM: "We have 22 years' experience as a road tanker operator, have been running in-house training since 2007, and we've been shortlisted for several training, safety and environmental awards.

"We know what's important to both operators and drivers, and can tailor our training."

Abbey Driver Training will offer Driver CPC, ADR, dangerous goods safety adviser and tanker driver courses. The Driver CPC courses consist of three modules: drivers' hours and digital tachographs; drivers' hours and customer care; and efficient driving and customer care.

"We believe there will be a shortage of Driver CPC training next year as the 2014 deadline approaches," said Granite.

"All of our courses will have a greener focus, so if drivers, particularly owner-drivers, come and train with us, they'll get a payback in terms of better fuel returns, because we'll teach them how to drive more efficiently."

Granite says Abbey has improved its own fuel performance across its 250 drivers, so "we want to share what we've learnt with other drivers".

The ultimate aim of Abbey Driver Training is to give drivers greater employability. "If a driver can prove to an employer that they bring to the table improved fuel consumption and reduced accidents because they've undergone our training, then we've done a good job," said Granite.
