Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

As the festive season approaches, CM's sister magazine Truck & Driver is using the TruckNet UK online forums to ask drivers what sort of Christmas bonus they will be receiving this year. Already the results show that many companies are not only feeling the financial pinch — they are looking to work their vehicles as hard as possible over the break because the days of the two-week Christmas shutdown seem to be well and truly over.

The Truck & Driver monthly question is a regular feature on TruckNet UK and the results are published every month in the magazine. Previous questions have ranged from debating the new Highways Agency severe weather warning system to "How much do you think is safe to drink the night before you drive?". The replies are always informative and sometimes surprising.

In a topic in the Owner-Drivers forum called "waved goodbye to the wagon" another owner-driver relates how he has called it a day, citing the latest fuel price rises and the lack of properly paid "legal" work. The atmosphere within the Owner-Drivers forum is certainly downbeat at the moment with many members publicly and privately talking about taking some sort of action to highlight the crippling costs of fuel. TruckNet UK, along with our printed counterparts and Roadtransport. com, will be keeping a close eye on developments. Are your drivers particularly badtempered after delivering to a certain customer? Ever wondered why? Drivers are compiling their list of the worst RDCs to deliver to in the UK and the reasons why. Some big-name companies come in for a mauling—take a look to see how some RDCs treat your workforce.

I know I mentioned this last week but it bears repeating: drivers are asking the government to look into the problem of drivers unknowingly carrying drugs across international borders, and being locked up for doing so, sometimes for years.
