VEST YORKSHIRE PTE could be n breach of the 1968 Transport Ict by carrying forward a culnulative deficit of £5.32m.
A report by Robson Rhodes, he PTE's chartered accountants, ittributes the financial crisis to ncreasing costs together with Ieclining passenger levels :aused by the deepening reces.ion.
Ths resulted in the PTE showig a deficit at the year ending /larch 31, 1980, but The Transtort Act, 1968, requires it to take II practicable steps to ensure it 'reeks even.
West Yorkshire has implenented a number of measures, ncluding fares increases, serrice revisions and job reducions, in an attempt to rectify natters in future years.
