Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ANEW economy 5-ton model has been added to the normal control range of trucks produced by Dodge Brothers (Britain), Ltd.. Mortlake Road, Kew Gardens, Surrey. Changes in the tyre specification of several models, both normal and semi-forward control, have also been announced. In some instances, maximum gross vehicle weights have been increased.

The new model has a maximum gross weight of 81 tons and a wheelbase of 14 ft. 6+ in. The principal reason behind its introduction is 10 provide a 5-tanner to replace the previous machines in this category which have now moved up into the 6-ton class because of the tyre changes.

The main differences between the new model and the earlier 5-tonners are that it is powered by a Perkins P6 normally rated oil engine developing 74 b.h.p., as opposed to the higher-rated unit employed hitherto, and that an 11-in.-diameter clutch and four-speed constant-mesh gearbox supersede the

12-in.-diameter clutch and five-speed gearbox previously standard.

List price of the new model in primer with cab and to standard specification is £1,193, plus £259 4s. Ild. purchase tax.

The semi forward control models • 103P6 and 105P6, and normal-control models 203P6 and 205P6 are now to be fitted with 7.50-20-in. (12-ply) tyres as standard, in place of the 10-ply tyres used previously. This has permitted an increase in the maximum gross vehicle weights of these models from 8+ tons to 91 tons, and in the nominal payload capacity from 5 tons to 6 tons.

The previously used tyres will still be available as a production option with a relative price allowance, but the gross weight and payload ratings revert to the lower figures. Standard tyres for some forward control and normal control models in the 6-ton range have been changed from 8.25-20-in. (12-ply) to 7.50-20-in. (12-ply). There is no change in the weight ratings of these 6-ton vehicles.
