Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Attention was called by Mr. J. H. Stirk, East Midland Licensing Authority, at Leicester, to the fact that two railway companies had failed to carry out their promises to state the grounds of their objections to licence renewals. " The railway companies have been asked to set out the points of their objections," he said. " It would be a great help to applicants, advocates and the court if they knew beforehand what were the grounds of objection.

" The Great Western Railway has done so:, The L.M.S. and, the L.N.R.R. promised to do it, but they have not carried out those promises."

Spare Parts for Halley Vehicles.

Further to the paragraph appearing in our issue for last week, we now learn that R. H. Collier and Co., Ltd., South Yardley, Birmingham, has purchased from George Cohen, Sons and Co., Ltd., the goodwill, spare parts, jigs, drawings and tools to cover the production of all spare parts required for Halley vehicles now on the road. The company tells us that for the present it is maintaining a service from the Halley works at Yoker, Glasgow, but it proposes to transfer the whole of the spares to its Birmingham address at the earliest possible moment.

Paris Tractor Show Next March.

The annual plough and tractor show, known as the Salon de la Machine Agricole, has been postponed on account of the fact that the Agricultural Congress is to he held in Paris next March, and the show organizers have altered the date of their exhibition to coincide with it. The Salon will thuS be open from March 17-22,1936.

It is always a fine show, and grows more important each year. British representation amongst tractor exhibits has in recent years been on the increase, and a good display may he anticipated next March.

Avon Report Shows Increased Trading.

A trading profit of £62,417 was made by the Avon India Rubber Co., Ltd., in the year ended September 28 last,which compares with £38,928 in the previous year. After deducting depreciation at £35,257 and certain other items, the profit amounts to £15,141, which contrasts with a loss of £3,183 in the previous 12 months. A sum of £17,582 is carried forward, which compares with £2,441 brought into the accounts. • In the report it is stated that there has been a considerable increase in sales and export trade has attained a record.
