F1GL/RES released by Scotland Yard to the Vehicles Security Committee (set up by the Road Haulage Association) show appreciable increases in the value of goods recovered and the number of persons charged in Connection with thefts of and from commercial vehicles in the Metropolitan Police district.
The value of goods recovered in lie second quarter of this year G16.300) is nearly three times as great as the figure of £5,750 for the corresponding period last -year. There were 77 persons charged in the same period, compared with 54 last year.
Eleven vehicles carrying loads worth £82,200 were hi-jacked, comparable figures for 1964 being seven vehicles and 125.490.
Representatives on the committee include BRS and the Traders Road Transport Association: Scotland Yard, British .transport Police, and insurance
offices.
