Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

maybe thanks to the country's long winter nights, so it seemed only logical to suppose that this knowledge of all things slumbrous should transfer to our mobile bedroom. A brief survey of our sleeping quarters gave the impression of a nicely balanced setup, offering plenty of room to manoeuvre along with a good quality bunk that looked nice and wide.

With the temperature stuck firmly in January we were glad of a cab-heater that was simplicity itself: one button for on/off and two more for the temperature high/low with a 1-10 scale on the display.

These controls are located on the driver's side of the dash but there's also a handheld unit by the bunk that operates the radio-CD volume and tuning/play list as well as the alarm clock and heater timing programme-handy stuff.

But it wasn't just the technology that impressed us. Practical touches are everywhere. From the steering wheel that folds forward to free up entry space on the driver's side to the passenger seat that lifts back for better manoeuvrability, we could tell that someone at Scania has really thought the R-Series through.

Shifting into something more comfortable our modesty was retained thanks to thick curtains that pin well back into the bunk section when not in use. We were also impressed with the lighting arrangement, which comprised three equally spaced lamps across the front overhead section, providing strong illumination across the whole of the cab. These can be operated from the front of the cab or from the sleeping area.

The overhead compartments at the front offer plenty of stowage, with further storage available by lifting the bunk, which houses two large bins and a drawer.

Finally it was time for some well-earned k p. Settling into the bunk, which folds out to gain a further 250mm of width once the seats are moved forward, we were impressed with the firm but comfortable mattress that provided plenty of support.

Flexible reading lamps are also provided and the finishing touch is the second section of curtains that draw across the length of the sleeping area, further blocking the light and reducing any exterior noise. Before you could say 'delays ahead we were out.

It has to be said, it was a monumental sleep. Sharing accommodation with flatmates only emphasised what benefits a decent and quiet sleeping environment offers and you certainly get that in the impressive R-Series.

Waking up fully refreshed we marvelled at what an excellent sleeping environment the Swedes have created. Come to think of it, maybe we could park one in the garden...
