• Attendance figures for the CV show at the NEC exceeded all expectations, according to the SMMT.

The target of about 17,000 people over the three days of the combined show was shattered by the final figure of 22,556. SMMT spokesman Rob Halloway says: "It was fantastic—the real trick now is to top it next year,' Surveys reveal that 93% of visitors plan to return to next year's event on 20, 21 and 22 March, The second day of the show proved the most popular with 9,781 people attending, more than 3,000 higher than the other two days. The show also seems to have been good for trade, with talk of General Trailers securing orders worth £1.5m.

Stands were arranged to mix major manufacturers with smaller companies in an effort to encourage visitors to see more.
