EXEMPTIONS FOR LANGPOIIT

• Red and yellow stickers featuring the Langport portcullis are to be given to suitable operators to show their vehicles have an exemption from a lorry ban due to be introduced in the town. The ban will extend along the A378 from Shires Corner in the south, to the Stathe Road, west of Bow Bridge.

It affects all vehicles over 7.5 tonnes and will come into effect from 1 July. The exemption will be available to local firms, who should apply to the Somerset County surveyor. Phone (0823) 255018.
