• Maxihaul (Humberside) was fined £650 with £70 costs, after being convicted of overloading, plating and testing offences when it failed to appear before Lichfield magistrates on 5 April.
Prosecuting for the West Midland Traffic Area, Barbara Stubbs said that a Volvo artic belonging to the company, and carrying steel coils was stopped by a traffic examiner on the AS at Wall in Staffordshire on 15 July. The semi-trailer had no current plating or test certificate.
A second Maxihaul artic, driven by Andrew Poole, was stopped in a further check at Wall on 21 July. The second axle was found to weigh 11,390kg, an overload of 890kg or some 8.4%.
The magistrates fined Maxihaul £250 for having no test certificate, £100 for having no plating certificate and 2300 for the overloading offence. Poole was fined 250 with 235 costs.
