Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IN A booming UK economy has fuelled an equally buoyant construction market, resulting in a high demand for tippers. Manufacturers have responded and, since last year's Commercial Motor tipper special, most have revised their ranges.

AWD has launched its well signalled 17-tonner the TL17-18 which, like the rest of the AWD 6.5 to 17-tonne gross on-highway range, is Perkins Phaser-powered. But expect to see the option of the 6.6-litre Caterpillar engine in AWD's TL line up in the near future.

ERF has made major changes to its range. The more compact steel cab on the new ES6 14to 17-tonne gross range suits this high-payload chassis for tipper operation. Similarly, the very light Cummins C Series-engined E8 sixand eight wheelers offer nearly the highest body/ payload allowances in their classes.

For the highest power tipper chassis, one continues to look at Foden, the only company with a 298kW (400hp) 8x4 tipper, It has extended its power range even more with the launch of the air-to-air aftercooled Caterpillar ATAAC 3404Bpowered sixand eight-wheelers. The Foden range is also boosted with the launch of a comprehensive line-up of 6x2 chassis.

Iveco Ford has concentrated its efforts on the 6X4 sector, and offers the Cummins 6CT8.3-211 powered Cargo 2421. Together with the 10-litre Cargo 2424, the Deutz-engined Cargo 2420 and a choice of two-spring, four-spring or rubber suspension, has a strong 6x4 range. Leyland Daf has also made changes. There is increased use of Daf 8.25 and 11.6-litre engines in UK-built Leyland Daf chassis at 17 tonnes and above. This has brought a number of new chassis poised to join the company's product line, including the Daf 8.25-litre-powered Freighter 1718, and the 11.6-litre engined Constructor 2426 and 3036 models.

MAN has completed its M90 launch with its 17-tonners having new cab and chassis specification.

Another new tipper model is the Steyr 17S18. This is a dedicated tipper model which has a hub reduction axle and a nine-speed ZF 9S109 gearbox.
