LORRY DRIVER OF THE YEAR ROUNDS AT COVENTRY AND IoM

• The first rounds of the 1973 Lorry Driver of the Year Competition were held last weekend at Coventry and the IoM. This year CM will be reviewing events at regular intervals but early indications are that this will be a high scoring year.

Observers at the first two events report that failure by the competitors to read the Highway Code and test instructions, particularly for test 2, were the main factors of the high penalty scores. At Douglas three men had more than 600 penalties. At Coventry the highest score was 499. The lowest score of the weekend was 215. In previous years this has been in the low sixties. Isle of Man
