• Distribution of toiletry and disposable paper products of Kimberly-Clark Ltd — the Kleenex tissue manufacturer — is now being carried out on combined air suspension and demountable bodied drawbar units operated by Storage and Haulage Ltd of Birmingham.
The fleet operated by Storage and Haulage consists of Seddon 16/4 rigids fitted with Gardner 6LXB engines. Pengco Load-O-Matic combined air suspension demountable systems are fitted to both vehicle and trailer. ' Identical 24ft bodies built by Cartwright's of Altrincham for towing vehicle and trailer are used and these are also interchangeable for use on Leyland Boxer 1100 chassis used by Storage and Haulage as feeder vehicles. The canopy-sided bodies have a width of 8ft 2-ein. and interior height of 8ft.
The Seddon drawbar combination has been designed for 16-ton-payload operation; complete turn-round, dropping and picking up two body units can be conducted in an average it is claimed, of 12 minutes.
