One section gives the addresse. of group offices in each of the eight divisions, another the addresses and traffic functions of, each depot (listed in alphabetical order of towns), and a third gives details of the Special Traffics (Pickfords) Division, which offers transport for furniture, meat and bulk-liquids, among other commodities. The "National Gazetteer of the Divisions, Districts, Groups and Depots of British Road Services" is priced at 2s. 6d. and is obtainable from district offices.

B.S.I. HANDBOOK FOR MOTOR INDUSTRY

NAORE than 300 standards, including 1 VIAmerican S.A.E. standards, are contained in the "Handbook of British Standards for the Automobile Industry,' now available in a new enlarged edition at 21s. (postage included) from the Sales Department, British Standards Institution, London. S.W.1.

Maj.-Gen. J. S. Crawford, a director of Guy Motors. Ltd.. is chairman of the committee responsible for the production of the handbook. The publication includes standards for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, bars and forgings, castings, sheet. strip, tubes and wire. An endeavour has been made to include all B.S.I., S.A.E. and S.M.M.T. standards in. popular use.

REGISTRATIONS START WELL MITH a total of 15,145, the registraVV tion of new vehicles for January (cars and Motorcycles excluded) was slightly down as compared with the same period for 1950 (15,325). For December last the figure was 5,545. Agricultural engines and other goods-4,899 and 8,140, respectively, make up the bulk of the total as shown in the table below.
