CAPT. A. G. FRAZER-NASH, 1V1.I.A.E., M h . E., and MR. E G. SPATER, F.C.I.I., have been appointed directors of Premier Motor Policies, Ltd. The former is well known in the motoring world on account of his early successes in sporting events and as the originator of the Frazer-Nash car. He is also responsible for the Frazer-Nash system of power-operated gun turrets used throughout the Services. Mr. Spater is an assistant general manager and agency manager of the Eagle Star Insurance Co., Ltd., with which he has been for 30 years.

MR. H. W. ELEY, advertising manager of the Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., has, we are very pleased to learn, now recovered from his recent operation and has resumed his duties with the company.

MR. E. V. Salmi, who has been general secretary of the Ballast, Sand and Allied Trades Association since its inception in 1930, has resigned on account of ill-health. He is retaining his connection with the Association in an advisory capacity. MR. C. B. MILLS succeeds him in the position.

MR. SIDNEY GARCKE, C.B.E., M.I.Mech.E,, who, since 1913, has been a director of the Maidstone and District Motor Services, Ltd., has been appointed to succeed the late Colonel H. 1. Robinson as chairman of the company and of its subsidiary companies, the Chatham and District Traction Co. and the Hastings Tramways Co.

MR. HENRY WALTER HAYES, after 45 years' service 'with Henry Bayes and Sons, Ltd., of Curtain Road, London. E.C.2, retired from his pbsition of managing director on March 31 last, for reason's of health. He is, hOwever, to retain his seat on the Board. This well-known London company—which is a subsidiary of the Transport Services group of road haulage undertakings—was originally established in 1879, and started bu.siness with six horsed vans, this number being gradually increased to 132. Long before the war the company was in course of changing over to motor vehicles and by 1939 had a fleet of some 8ff lorries and vans. Mr. H. C. Drayton, chairman of Transport Services, -Ltd., was present at a.dinner given last week on the occasion of the retirement of Mr. Bayes and, in presenting him with a silver coffee set and salver on behalf of the Board as n token of esteem, referred appropriately to his loyalty and long service.
