Buses in Newcastle.

Some interesting figures relative to the present volume of motorbus traffic in Newcastle were given during the hearing of a " plying-for-hire " prosecution

recently. It was stated that there were now 234 buses licensed for service to and from the city. Of these 62 are owned by the Newcastle Corporation Transport Undertaking. Inspector Woodcock, who gave the figures, also intimated that about 50 unlicensed vehicles were running in the city.

Pneumatic Tyres for Heavier Loads.

In our issue dated April 6th we referred to Mr. Colin 141aebeth's paper on pneumatic tyres, and mentioned the remarks of a speaker in the discussion anent bead flexibility. Mr. Macbeth points out that he is in favour of the reduction of the number of wires, not their omission.
