Of Importance to Scamtnell Users.

After a considerable amount of use, the regrinding of the valves on their coatings in the cylinder heads of the Scammell engine causes these seatings to become pocketed, and in the past this has necessitated the scrapping of many heads. The New Welding Co. (Southern), Ltd., 26, Rosebery Avenue, London, E.C.1, have developed a process by which fresh metal is welded on to these seatings, after which they are accurately machined and are then practically as good as new. The material employed is, if anything, harder than the original cast-iron, and, consequently, the seatings have a long life. The cost is, of course, nothing like that of new cylinder heads.
