"We are walking a very treacherous road,' he said. "We have to have nerves of steel. But I get frustrated when I see the trade press accusing us of U-turns."
Bridge concluded by asking hauliers to judge him on the end rather than the means of the campaign.
Chief executive Roger King told CM he thought there was no contradiction in John Bridge asking for a general reduction in fuel duty in the Fuel Forum while demanding the EUR via the Transport Forum. "It's unfortunate he has to wear two hats," said King, but there is a united message—a reduction in fuel duty."
