So the haulage industry is in crisis. Working conditions for lorry drivers are still in the dark ages, with 15-hour days. a disgraceful lack of roadside facilities and stress levels that most other workers would be able to sue their employers for and live happily ever after.
Good thing then that Bill Morris, head of the Transport & General Workers Union, was speaking at the Labour party conference. What a chance to tell the government of the day how it really is for his members—the people who pay his wages and put him where he is.
Well, he did use his influence and power. He used it to get the government to think again about the voucher system for asylum seekers.
Yes, asylum seekers-99% of whom are bogus and are abusing the system pul place to protect peopli genuine need.
These people have serious problems and distress for so many ir drivers and yet a prorr figure in a major transi union worries more at them than his own mer No wonder drivers hauliers feel so desperr misrepresented.
I am not a member T&,G, I am a member o And if they ever saw fit behave like this I would my feelings very clear them. I hope all the har working members of tt will do likewise.
