• The family business of haulage contractors J. B. Smith and Co of Keynsham, Bristol, is to be acquired by Cadbury Schweppes Ltd. The business has been associated for many years as a contract haulier operating between the factories and depots of Cadbury and Fry.
It is intended that the newly acquired company will continue to do business with outside customers and to maintain its separate identity as well as being a principal contractor on routes between Cadbury Schweppes factories.
The business will be incorporated as a subsidiary limited company under the chairmanship of Mr W. D. Taylor, the controller of Cadbury Schweppes Transport Services.
