"DENATIONALIZATION WHATEVER HAPPENS"

W/HATEVER party was returned to IN power in the General Election, road haulage would have to be denationalized. Mr. Frank F. Fowler, national chairman of the Road Haulage Association, proclaimed his certainty of this when he spoke last week at the annual dinner of the Association's Scottish Area in Glasgow. If Britain were to live, denationalization must take place and the Government must cut its losses.

Mr. Fowler suggested that British Railways should be reorganized. There were at least 15 goods yards between Glasgow and Edinburgh and the number could quite easily be reduced. to five.

Maj. Guy Lloyd, DS.O., said that free operators had been callously treated by the Road Haulage Executive. He had every hope that the handicaps placed upon them would be removed. There could be little doubt that a new Government would require the R.H.E. to obtain licences in the same manner as free hauliers.
