Arthur Oakley joins Palletways

HEREFORD-BASED Arthur Oakley Transport has joined Palletways less than a year after joining Palletforce, following the attraction of covering less miles for more volume.

Since 1 November, the haulier has been covering the GL and HR postcodes for Palletways, and processing approximately 100 pallets a night.

In comparison, the firm was covering the LD and HR postcodes for Palletforce and handling, on average, 40 pallets a night.

"We found the LD postcode with Palletforce was a very large patch with a few customers. It's a rural area, which does not produce a lot of pallets," says Roger Oakley, director at Arthur Oakley.

He continues: "Under the GL postcode [with Palletways], we are covering a more industrial region and are now travelling a maximum of 35 miles compared with a longer and more difficult journey we had to do before for Palletforce.'

The firm joined Palletforce in January and did experience turnover growth, but Oakley says that since joining Palletways, its customer base has grown, and volume input to the network has doubled on its average pallet input with the previous partnership.

Palletforce says the area is being covered by an existing member of the network.
