Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Pick clients with care, hauliers told

A LOGISTICS analyst firm says hauliers can learn from highprofile administrations, such as Threshers and Wine Rack owner First Quench Retailing (FOR), by spending more time picking clients as they emerge from the recession.

Approximately 250 jobs at Norbert Dentressangle's operatonal centre for the retailer in Dunstable are at risk after FOR went into administration.

A statement from ND says the company is waiting for notification from FOR's administrators KPMG as to how it should proceed.

KPMG Is seeking a buyer or buyers for FOR.

Mark O'Bornick, director of logistics and supply chain research company Analytiqa, says that although companies the size of ND can absorb the loss of business incurred when a client goes into administration, it is much harder for smaller hauliers.

It becomes much more of a priority to research the people you are doing business with [during the recession].

For hauliers that are lower down the chain, this increases the need for due diligence [because] they will be more dependent on a smaller number of customers."
