Allison has new markets in sights as it carries out trials
WITH ITS TRADI lIONAL core markets of fire, refuse and public transport virtually saturated, Allison Transmissions is carrying out trials to extend its applications into new sectors.
CM paid a visit to its exclusive off-road demonstration centre in a Swedish gravel quarry to sample its fully automatic transmissions fitted to a range of on and off-road heavy haulage and heavy duty construction vehicles.
One of the vehicles driven was a Volvo FH16 660 heavy hauler, operating at weights up to 280 tonnes with a transmission running at 25% more than its design capacity. You can read the full story in CM next week.
